If i am allowed to share my simple hack that i fgured out on my journey to hit high and heavy and certainly heavy. Let the ball get to it highest point after boncing, and atart descendeing and thenhit with your normal everyday swing. Its better to aim higher over the net, but its not really necessary if you dont really want that high a high a ball, but trust me, it going to he heavy. Vincent, great job on all your videos. You really helped me.

Always swing low to high for topspin - it's a combination stroke > the 'slot' prepares the forearm in a supination position and even Federer's shallow incline towards ball contact rises steeply as his forearm begins to pronate on the forehand ground-stroke as can be seen, starting @8mins into this video .. ruclips.net/video/jcc_FW4lIe4/видео.html

Great detailed video, thank you so much for putting it together! Wondering - what are the differences between the 'Modern' forehand vs. 'Next Generation' forehand? Seemed to me the main element that is different is that the 'Modern' forehand has bending at the knees and dropping the racquet head (the pat the dog cue) during the prep phase, which results in more upward racquet head motion during the swing (more 'down to up' motion). If that's true, then if the ball is coming at a pace where we have enough time to do the 'Modern' forehand, it could give you a bit more power than the 'Next Gen'. What are people's thoughts?

Ha!! I’ve been trying to find the solution on shortening my backswing (it’s waaay too big now). No coaches have really managed to tell me this in this exact concise way. Wish I’d found this video sooner. You should tag it with something like large backswing or something like that so people with my problem could find it easily 🤣

Hey Vincent, thanks for sharing. Just want to point out that your bevel/grip system is different from what is generally used. The continental grip that you mentioned is what generally thought as the forehand eastern grip. And your bevel 1 is generally thought to be bevel 3. This doesn't make your theory about the techniques invalid, indeed they makes total sense to me, but your bevel/grip system may cause confusion. It's like you are using lbs and others are using kg.. Hope you can adjust your bevel/grip system to what is generally accepted, so no room for misunderstanding. Thanks again for the good work.

This is one of the best advice ever. The 2 and 3 are basically the coil --> uncoil phases. Most rec players, including myself, put down the left foot too early, disrupting the rhythm.

This is really nice explained. The issue with club players and on clay court is ball bounce high and we are slow on feet so we do all those errors you mentioned, in particular timing and setup to hit the ball. Any suggestion?

Hey Vincent, your racket handle looks like the bevels are very pronounced. Do you use a leather base grip and an overgrip overtop to achieve this pronounced bevel? If not, how do you get such a strong bevel? Thanks

Those 90's forehands were so clunky hahaha. They really kept the elbow tucked in for some reason. It would be a no-no these days.

I have discovered this timing through trial and error and have come to the same rhythm as you so well describe. I usually make sure I have started step 2 just prior to the ball bouncing and smoothly transition to step 3 ( drop and throw) thereafter. I am able to sustain hitting against the wall a lot longer if I follow this rhythm

Wow this is an amazing video. Moved my grip over a bit as suggested and could really get great topspin and ironically it seems to have made my backhand slice better too. Love the detail you bring, I can work on one or two things, and it always feels unnatural at first but after a day or two it clicks.
